When Should You Consider Total Joint Surgery?

“When should you consider total joint surgery?” This question is one many patients ask when knee or hip pain starts to interfere with daily routines. If discomfort keeps you from activities you once enjoyed, it may be time to explore whether joint replacement is the right option.

Orthopedic surgeon Omar Akhtar, MD, Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa (PCI) Department of Orthopedics, will answer that question and discuss treatment options at a free community seminar on total joint care.

Presented by Surgery Center Cedar Rapids, PCI, and UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Hospital, the seminar will cover when surgery may be appropriate, robotic-assisted surgery procedures, and what to expect before and after surgery.

Community Room, third floor

• Park in PCI ramp E (corner of 10th St. SE and 2nd Ave. SE).
• Take the sky walk on level 3 to cross 10th St. SE.
• The sky walk enters PCI at level 2. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor at PCI.
• Follow signs to the Community Room.
