PCI Welcomes New Pediatric Specialty

Physicians' Clinic of Iowa, eastern Iowa's premiere specialty medical center, has again expanded healthcare options in the Corridor by adding Pediatrics to its growing list of specialty service offerings.

Pediatricians have specialized training in the physical, emotional, and behavioral needs of children. And, because they only see children, they have more experience recognizing and treating childhood illnesses. Along with routine exams and care, PCI Pediatrics offers specialized care for premature babies/children or those with health conditions that need close monitoring.

PCI's new Pediatric specialty is anchored by:

  • Susan M. Halverson, MD, FAAP: Dr. Halverson earned her medical degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL. She completed residency at the University of Tennessee LeBonheur Children's Hospital and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
  • Jorie J. Shire, MD, FAAP: Dr. Shire completed her medical degree at the Carver College of Medicine, University of Iowa, Iowa City. She completed residency at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.

Both Drs Halverson and Shire specialize in diagnosing and treating a broad range of childhood illnesses; ensuring children meet developmental milestones for growth, behavior and skills; providing information to parents about their children's health, safety, nutrition and fitness; and providing insight and resources for mental health wellness.
