Restore the Appearance of Damaged or Fungal Toenails at PCI Podiatry

If you are embarrassed by damaged, thickened, discolored, or fungal toenails, KERYflex® may provide the cosmetic restoration solution you’ve been looking for. At Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa (PCI), our podiatry team offers KERYflex Nail Restoration, a medical-grade toenail restoration treatment designed to improve the appearance of damaged nails while allowing the natural nail to continue growing underneath.

Performed in our podiatry clinic by trained podiatry nurse practitioner Sami Anderson, ARNP, KERYflex provides patients with a natural-looking, durable nail in a single office visit.

What is KERYflex?

KERYflex is a safe, in-office cosmetic nail restoration system used to improve the appearance of nails damaged by:

  • Fungal toenails
  • Nail trauma or injury
  • Thickened toenails
  • Psoriasis-related nail changes
  • Discolored or misshapen nails
  • Onychodystrophy

Unlike traditional acrylic salon nails, KERYflex is a medical-grade, flexible resin system specifically designed for damaged toenails. The restored nail looks natural, feels comfortable, and is durable enough for daily activities.

How the KERYflex Process Works

The KERYflex application process typically takes approximately 30–40 minutes, depending on the number of nails being treated and the amount of nail preparation needed.

Treatment includes four main steps:

1. Nail Preparation

  • The affected nail is carefully trimmed, debulked, and cleaned to create the ideal surface for application.

2. Bonding Agent Application

  • A medical bonding agent is applied to help the KERYflex resin securely adhere to the natural nail.

3. Resin Application

  • A lightweight, sculptable resin gel is applied to restore the nail’s natural appearance, shape, and thickness.

4. UV Sealant and Curing

  • The nail is cured under UV light to create a durable, non-porous protective overlay.

Once complete, the nail is immediately dry and ready for normal activity.

Benefits of KERYflex Toenail Restoration

  • Instant Cosmetic Improvement. Patients leave the clinic with a smooth, natural-looking nail after just one visit.
  • Comfortable and Flexible. Unlike rigid acrylic nails, KERYflex flexes naturally with the toe, helping improve comfort and reduce damage.
  • Safe for Damaged or Fungal Nails. KERYflex is ideal for nails affected by fungal infections, trauma, psoriasis, or chronic nail deformities.
  • Compatible with Nail Polish. The restored nail can safely be polished immediately after treatment and works with standard polish remover.
  • Durable and Non-Porous. KERYflex resists acetone, detergents, and polish remover while helping protect the underlying nail.
  • Medical-Grade Application. Unlike salon cosmetic applications, KERYflex is applied in a podiatry clinic by a trained medical professional.
  • Helps Restore Confidence. Many patients feel self-conscious about damaged or fungal toenails. KERYflex can dramatically improve nail appearance and help patients feel more comfortable wearing sandals, open-toed shoes, or going barefoot.
