PCI Extends Hours and Implements Additional Protections

With the state of Iowa’s go-ahead to perform elective surgeries and procedures, Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is extending building hours in order to accommodate patient needs.

“PCI is, of course, committed to continuing to provide our patients with excellent care in the safest possible environment,” said David Hart, MD, PCI Board of Directors President and Chief Medical Officer. “We will be contacting patients to reschedule surgical appointments as quickly as possible, as well as scheduling new appointments and procedures.”

As of Monday, May 11, PCI’s Cedar Rapids campus buildings are open 7 am – 5 pm, Monday – Friday. All services, including diagnostic lab and imaging, are fully available to patients. The extended hours allow clinics to spread appointments apart to respect social distancing recommendations.

PCI staff will continue to screen visitors at building entrances. Due to this screening process, some entrances will remain closed in order to funnel patients to the screening tables.

Additionally, out of an abundance of concern for the safety and health of our patients and staff, we are implementing many new guidelines, including recommending that patients and building visitors:

• Wear a mask to appointments
• Respect social distancing guidelines
• Wash hands frequently
• Stay home if sick
• Limit the number of caretakers/escorts coming to appointments
• Cover coughs & sneezes
• Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

For those who choose not to venture out, several PCI clinics are offering telemedicine appointments. Through telemedicine, patients connect with their providers by computer or mobile devices via PCI’s patient portal. For complete instructions, go to pcofiowa.com/televisit.
