Dr. Jonathan Rippentrop Named 2022 Center of Excellence for Groundbreaking Procedure

Jonathan Rippentrop, MD, urologist and surgeon at Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa, has been designated a UroLift® Center of Excellence for the year 2022. Dr. Rippentrop has achieved a higher level of training with the UroLift® System and has demonstrated a commitment to care for men suffering from symptoms associated with enlarged prostate.

“The Center of Excellence designation is a very important milestone in the treatment of BPH,” Dr. Rippentrop said. “BPH is very common, especially in men over age 50. UroLift® is a safe and effective office-based alternative to other treatments, and I am passionate about making this procedure as available as possible to men in eastern Iowa who are suffering with the condition.”

As men age, the prostate can enlarge. This is known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia or BPH. As the prostate enlarges, it presses on and blocks the urethra, causing bothersome urinary symptoms, such as frequent need to urinate both day and night; weak or slow urinary stream; a sense of not being able to completely empty the bladder; difficulty or delay in starting urination; urgent need to urinate; and/or a urinary stream that stops and starts.

The UroLift® System is a new minimally invasive procedure that treats enlarged prostate. It is the only leading treatment that does not require heating, cutting or destruction of the prostate tissue. UroLift® is covered by Medicare and all national and commercial insurance plans.
