CEDAR RAPIDS—July 13, 2011—Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa (PCI), a multi-specialty medical group, welcomes the addition of Amy Weininger, MSEd as Audiology Technician to its Ear, Nose & Throat / Head & Neck Surgery team.

Weininger has earned a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education as well as a Master of Science in Education.  She is a licensed teacher by the State of Iowa Board of Education and has experience assisting hearing impaired children in kindergarten through eighth grade. In this role, Weininger served as a Deaf Education teacher for the Cedar Rapids Community School District for ten years. During this time she specialized in auditory checks, hearing equipment maintenance, parent/student communication techniques, and the development of general education inclusion programs. 

Weininger has attended a variety of professional educational workshops including: Auditory Development for Hearing Impaired Children; Play & Learn: Motor-Based Preschool Curriculum for Children with Disabilities; and those presented by the Cochlear Americas Institute for Early Intervention Professionals.

With the ability to communicate in sign language, Weininger has invested significantly in increasing her knowledge of communication disorders.  She is trained in auditory testing and tube changing.  Her passion for working with those with hearing loss allows her to communicate with patients in a comforting and personable way.
