CEDAR RAPIDS—July 7, 2011— Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa (PCI), a multi-specialty medical group, welcomes the addition of Dr. Hosne A. Begum, oncologist, to its team of providers at Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa—Hematology & Oncology.

Dr. Begum is board-certified in hematology, medical oncology and internal medicine and has worked in private practice hematology and oncology since 2002.  Dr. Begum is experienced in diagnosing, treating and managing care for those with all types of cancers and disorders of the blood.  She also has considerable clinical research trial experience.  Her medical philosophy is centered around a strong patient-physician relationship that focuses on each patient’s individual needs.

Dedicated to both preventive education and the use of leading therapies for her patients, Dr. Begum’s career is focused on helping individuals battle the disease of cancer which took both the lives of her parents early in life. She strives to support each patient through quality medical care and compassion during this difficult time in their lives.

Dr. Begum earned her medical degree Mymensingh Medical College in Bangladesh and completed her residency and fellowship training at Brookdale University Hospital & Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. During this time she was named Outstanding First Year Resident and later Honorary Teaching Attending Physician for her leadership in mentoring residency staff. 

Dr. Begum has held oncology positions at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital in Yakima, Washington, and more recently at Trinity Medical Center in Moline, Illinois.  She is board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.  Outside of medicine, Dr. Begum has a love of travelling and gardening.

Joining four other oncologists, Dr. Begum’s office is located at 855 A Avenue NE, Cedar Rapids, IA.  She has hospital privileges at Mercy Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital.  Patients may be referred to Dr. Begum by calling (319) 297-2900.
