CEDAR RAPIDS—March 17, 2011—Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa-Orthopaedics team members Cassandra Lange, MD and Heidi Sandersfeld, PA-C have each received Physician Recognition Awards in the categories of Patient Advocate and PA/ARNP respectively.
The awards were developed in 2003 by Mercy Medical Center’s Clinical Ladder Committee as a way for the nursing staff to recognize outstanding physician role models and colleagues. Nominations for the awards are requested from all staff at Mercy, but a nurse or nursing department must support any nomination for an award.
The award categories include: PA/ARNP, Patient Advocate, Mentor/Educator and Colleague. A total of 19 individuals were nominated this year. The nominations were reviewed by the Clinical Ladder Committee, which is comprised of 15 members, representing inpatient and outpatient nursing departments, staff nurses, and a nurse manager.
Recipients will be recognized at a Nursing Recognition Dinner on Tuesday, March 22, 2011.
