The Board of Directors of Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa is proud to announce that five PCI team members have been honored with the organization’s STAR awards. The STAR Awards are designed to recognize the consistent demonstration of positive Service, Teamwork, Attitude and Respect to patients, staff and physicians.
“Each one of the recipients has demonstrated complete commitment to the mission and values of PCI and we are very proud of their contributions,” said Michael Sundall, CEO of Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa.
Recognized were Glenda Morse, ENT; Jan Appleton, LPN-ENT; Paula Castro, Orthopaedics Reception; Tammy Johnson, Information Technology; Deb Klein, MA Iowa Blood & Cancer Care of PCI.
Glenda Morse was reemployed by PCI ENT in May 2008 and is now transitioning to Surgery Scheduling. Her active ownership of the reception and greeting area has allowed the Allergy, Audiology/Hearing Aids, and Envisions Medical Spa to focus on providing excellent patient care. She is always willing to help others and always has a smile on her face. Glenda has been called “the best greeter that there is” and her warm, caring personality and hard work contribute to the overall success of ENT.
Jan Appleton, LPN-ENT is a wonderful nurse and team player and started with PCI in July 1996. She proactively offers assistance in all areas of the clinic with positive attitude. Jan nurses for Bridget Peters, PA-C. Her supervisor is approached by others commenting on Jan’s energy, diligence, and great attitude. She also volunteers her personal time at the Free Clinic.
Paula Castro, Orthopedics Reception started with PCI in August 2001 and is truly a hands-on supervisor. She can be most days anywhere but her office, because she is always lending support to her team and always does so with a smile. Her team feels well informed of the issues that impact them and they feel that they receive information from her in a timely manner. Many feel like she is truly a great person to work with.
Tammy Johnson, Information Technology, got her start with PCI in March 1989 in Medical Records and now serves as the Director of IT. Tammy received two independent nominations for a STAR award. Whatever job she has had she has always demonstrated her commitment to work hard. She is a team player and a key member of the PACS project team. Along with her IT staff, she works hard to support the daily IT needs of the PCI staff.
Deb Klein, MA Iowa Blood & Cancer Care is responsible for the mixing and preparation of medication for patients. She always puts the needs of the patients first and manages the process of ensuring that refreshments are available for chemotherapy patients to the extent that she will even package those refreshments in single serving sizes for them. Deb makes a positive impact on the patients.
