Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa announces four staff members to receive STAR awards.
CEDAR RAPIDS—May 31, 2012— The Board of Directors of Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa (PCI) is proud to announce that four PCI team members have been honored with the organization’s STAR awards. The STAR Awards are designed to recognize the consistent demonstration of positive service, teamwork, attitude and respect to patients, staff and physicians.
“The power of our organization to help patients get well is generated by the extraordinary people who are dedicated to a culture of Above & Beyond Caring,” said Michael Sundall, CEO of Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa. “These individuals are shining examples of the type of staff who drive PCI’s success now and into the future.”
This class of STAR Award recipients include:
Jeanne Bailey. 2012 will mark Jeanne’s 24th year with the organization. Jeanne has spent the majority of her career with Surgical Specialists. During her time with Surgical, she was consistently cited as being an outstanding performer who was always willing to help and go “above and beyond”. Jeanne has truly embraced the concept of “organizational think”, as she took the lead in piloting the coding centralization process when she joined the Central Business Office in January of this year. Jeanne’s attitude and eagerness to assist others and the organization epitomizes the qualities of a STAR nominee.
Pam Crum. Pam received three separate nominations as a PCI STAR employee. Pam has been with the PCI organization for 26 years and receives accolades both as a manager, and as a “true team player”. Pam is willing to do what it takes to ensure that our patients’ needs are met. Pam is described as a “hands on” leader who is fair, loyal, kind and who never forgets to say thank you. Her contributions to the organization are focused on the mission, vision and values of PCI, and she leads by example, making sure that she, and her staff, put “patients first”. Pam embodies the PCI standards.
Toni Bricker. Toni has spent her entire nursing career (over 35 years) with the PCI Orthopaedics department. Toni is described as an individual who goes above and beyond every single day with a smile on her face. She demonstrates extraordinary concern and acts of kindness without expectation of acknowledgement or gratitude. Toni’s coworkers describe her as efficient, knowledgeable, and compassionate and indicate that her attitude should be an example for all. Toni’s depth of knowledge about hand and upper extremity conditions has made her an invaluable member of her team, and others see her as a mentor. Toni is an asset to PCI and a stellar example of nursing care.
Joanne Fox. Joanne is a true role model for PCI’s Above & Beyond Caring service standards. Joanne is continually thinking of ways to not only provide excellent care to our patients, but to support the needs of our providers and her fellow coworkers. Joanne not only dedicates herself to going above and beyond for her own department, but has made herself available to several other departments in need of assistance. Joanne’s dedication to PCI’s mission is evidenced by the number of patients who have expressed their gratitude for Joanne’ kindness and generosity. On one occasion, a patient expressed trepidation about an upcoming surgery since there was no family assistance. With the patient’s permission, Joanne went to the hospital to visit the patient in order to lend her support and reassurance. There are no limits to Joanne’s commitment to our patients, as demonstrated by her many acts of “above and beyond” service. We are fortunately to have someone like Joanne on the PCI team.
