Cedar Rapids - March 31, 2012 - Next week we will celebrate the 15 year anniversary of Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa!  On April 1, 1997, five medical groups joined to start a new era of group practice medicine in the community.  46 physicians and 250 staff from these practices came together:

• Iowa Medical Clinic PC
• Linn Co. Urology
• Eastern Iowa Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists PLC
• General Surgeons PC
• Surgical Specialists PC

Over the last 15 years, PCI has experienced continued growth in physicians and specialties.  We’ve led the medical community in innovation, service, and business.  Our physicians emerged as shareholders and company directors.  And with the goal of addressing the changing corporate practice of medicine, PCI was a key ingredient in Cedar Rapids recognition as a high quality, low cost community by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI.)  

Today we are preparing for the next chapter by joining together once again, but in a new way!  Physicians’ Clinic of Iowa Medical Pavilion will be a 220,000 square foot, ambulatory care facility opening in early 2013.  This state-of-the-art space will allow our physicians and staff to better interact with patients, one another, and our tenant partners.  We will provide world-class specialty service second to none, complete with imaging services and laboratory testing all under one roof. We will also be able to offer expanded health screenings and education opportunities for our patients.  Most importantly, we will achieve this through a collegial culture of extraordinary care where patients always come first, just as they did when 46 physicians merged in 1997.
